After her surgery she became a strong voice in the Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) community lobbying for mandatory Pulse Ox screening for newborns and that CPR training becomes available for high school students, and eventually become a graduating requirement in schools islandwide. From schools to television and radio, from Costa Rica to Minnesota, Lola doesn’t miss out on any opportunity to speak to groups of all ages, connect and create awareness about congenital heart defects, acceptance, and resilience.
